For Willi Oil Co., a Shell jobber in southern Illinois, package liquor, beer and wine has been the springboard to expansion and financial success.
About 20 wars ago the small town of DuQuoin, Ill., had only one liquor store. But now the larger city of DuQuoin has 6,500 citizens and eight liquor stores, including two that are connected to convenience stores.
Owned jointly by a father-son duo, Willi Oil Co., which is headquartered in DuQuoin, dove into the liquor store industry in 1978 by converting a section of their four-bay gasoline station into a full-service liquor store.
