A developer has the go-ahead to build a 53-unit, four-story apartment building near the new Northstar Commuter Rail station in Elk River.

But the City Council isn t supportive of his quest to make it affordable housing.

The Elk River City Council voted 4-1 Monday, Sept. 21 against a resolution of support for Duffy Development Company s affordable housing tax credit application to the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency.

Mayor Stephanie Klinzing was the only council member favoring the resolution. She said Elk River needs that type of housing.
