Representatives from more than 140 wind energy companies in 38 countries have signed a declaration calling for national governments and the EU to provide more political and legislative support to develop the continent's offshore wind industry.
The European Offshore Wind Declaration also commits businesses to ensuring that a sufficient supply of turbines, components, foundations, installation and cable-laying vessels are available to exploit the fuel-free energy source.
By signing the declaration, drawn up by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), signatories agreed on the need for:
