The ascent of Franklin Graham through the ranks of American evangelism has followers talking about a joint crusade -- and succession to his famous father's ministry.

Their emphasis on God's love and forgiveness is the same, and while he's not his father, there is no mistaking him as the son. Standing in a packed arena in Albuquerque, his flashing eyes captured on 12-foot Jumbotron screens, Franklin Graham proclaims the same gospel message the august Billy Graham has preached for more than a half-century.

"People ask me when I'm going to retire." said the elder Graham, 79, during a recent press conference. "I'm going to retire when the Lord retires me." ...
