ALBANY -- More than 40 years into his career, Robin Trower remains an unlikely guitar hero.Where others rip and shred and wail, Trower takes his time; few ride the groove as eloquently as he does.
On Sunday night, Trower brought his eponymous quartet to The Egg for a sold-out show that had fans standing and shouting for the yin-yang of terse, punchy songs and epic solos.
The fact that Trower was willing to let some songs -- like "Twice Removed From Yesterday" and "Victims of The Fury" -- fly by made for a nice balance. And once he stepped up to stretch out, he more than made up for not spiking every song.
