Article: CST Declines by 10 Cents; Market Falls After Gains.(CRUDE SULFATE TURPENTINE)

CRUDE SULFATE TURPENTINE is facing its first price decrease after more than three years of steady increases. The product's price will go down 10 cents per gallon on July 1. The third quarter price for CST will be $1.65 per gallon, down from the second quarter price of $1.75.

The price turnaround follows weaknesses in the three markets that use CST: pine oil, resins and aroma chemicals. Sales of pine oil and resins are weak, and aroma chemicals are flat. "If the price of turpentine continued to go up," an aroma chemicals fractionator notes, "there would be a glut."
