SUICIDE'S A RIGHT, AND SO IS METHOD
Regarding the Sept. 29 article, "Preventing Suicide by Design," on state plans to deter jumpers at Rio Grande Gorge Bridge near Taos: The state has no business interfering in the deaths of individual adults who wish to end their lives, whatever the method. If a bridge needs to be improved to prevent accidents, well and good, but for the purpose of preventing intentional suicide, that is a personal decision in which the state needs to understand our freedom, not to lessen it.
Hopefully one day, New Mexico will join Oregon in its protection of citizens and not make laws that limit our freedom to live or die as we ...
