Chicks rule the roost at the 2,542-square-foot "Bright Idea" house , also known as "The Chickadee."
Reminiscent of an early- 20th-century farmhouse, the home was designed, built and landscaped by a team of style-savvy women through Simpson Builders for Homearama 2009.
Mary-Dolph Simpson, the chick in charge, called it "family-farmhouse chic." The goal?
"Cost-effective and sensible," she said.
The women kept the home affordable , at $425,000 , while filling it with detail and searching for overstocks, sales and lower-cost versions of high-end materials. That yielded some surprising ...
