The shock of Chicago's early exit Friday from consideration to host the 2016 Olympics may still sting, but the bid process revealed a world-class road cycling course to a global audience, officials said.

That exposure, they said, likely will elevate southern Wisconsin's bicycling profile, possibly attracting other cycling races, new biking businesses and conventions to the state.
