Serge Kaliaguine, MCIC was born iu Sigoules, France and lived for several years in North Africa. He received his higher education in Toulouse, France, his BSc from l'Institut du Genie Chimique de Toulouse (1964) and his PhD from the University of Toulouse (1967). He has been teaching at Laval University since the fall of 1967.
Kaliaguine was the Chairman of the Catalysis Division of the CIC in 1975. In 1982 he created the GRASP at Laval University a research group on the applications of surface physico-chemistry, and in 1990 he was the founding director of a research center on surface properties and catalysis.
