Oct 05, 2009 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Professor Paul Komesaroff has expressed concern over the growing trend for Australian surgeons to acquire private hospitals or day surgeries. Many independent hospitals are now owned by companies that are controlled by surgeons, a situation which Professor Komesaroff says creates a conflict of interests. He adds that surgeons' decisions should not be influenced by their ownership of health facilities.
