Weigh in on rail plan:
The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, to gather input on an environmental assessment of the proposed alternatives for new passenger rail service from Chicago to Dubuque, Iowa. The meeting will be at the Northern Illinois University Outreach Center, 8500 E. State St., Rockford. It will be an open house format with a looping PowerPoint presentation and exhibits.
