Dubai: The GCC region has one of the fastest growing retail sectors in the world, but it still lags behind most other retail sectors in the area of transparency.
Industry sources say that some retailers tend to hold back on information on financial performance, shareholder structures and investor relations.
The reluctance exhibited by retailers in opening up has been attributed to a number of factors, which include the fear of competition, complicated organisational systems, and budget constraints.
