In order to develop a unifying strategy for solving problems in the Middle East, the United States should stand up to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and demand the finalized negotiations establishing an independent Palestinian state on the West Bank and Gaza; the U.S. should aid in dividing Iraq into four multi-ethnic countries to potentially develop of democratic institutions; and construct an international consensus to contain Islamic fundamentalism.
