Park Place at Malta, located at the corner of Route 9 and Stone Break Road, is a community that adopts the "new urbanism" style of combining condominiums and single-family homes with retail shops and dining. Many of the neighborhood's characteristics -- garages behind instead of in front of the homes, sitting porches, sidewalks, and shops and gathering spots within walking distance -- encourage a sense of community, says Lee DeGraff, one of the builders involved in the project.
