Belden assistance
LEOMINSTER - Workers who lost their jobs making copper or fiber optic cables at the Mohawk division plant of Belden Inc. may apply for federal trade assistance, the U.S. Department of Labor reported yesterday.
The government certified after an investigation that the loss of jobs at Belden was related to the shift of production to Mexico. Under the Trade Adjustment Assistance program, displaced workers may receive job training, allowances and other services.
