Jul. 15--Tri-Met is preparing to return to the ballot box in November to ask voters to decide again on a south-north light rail line first approved in 1994.
The original vote called for a $2.85 billion, 25-mile line extending from Clackamas Town Center into Clark County, Wash., but residents across the river later rejected local funding for the rail line.
Tri-Met officials have given up, for now, trying to find a way to pay for extending the line to Vancouver, as promised in 1994.
This time, the proposal will be for a $1.6 billion Oregon-only project running about 16 miles from the mall to a small business ...
