(ADPnews) - Sep 29, 2009 - German utility E.on AG (ETR:EOAN) is ready to begin talks with the new federal government over extending the lifetime of nuclear power plants, CEO Wulf Bernotat told daily Handelsblatt.
The CDU/CSU union and the Free Democratic Party (FDP), which are expected to form the new government after last week's elections, have clearly spoken in favour of longer nuclear energy usage. Bernotat is convinced that nuclear energy will have a future after the change of government, and the topic will be approached in a matter-of-fact manner, free of ideology.
