(ADPnews) - Aug 20, 2009 - State-owned Fortis Bank Netherlands posted today a net profit of EUR 338 million (USD 481.2m) for the first half of 2009, compared with EUR 543 million in the year-earlier period.
The current result includes positive one-off effects of EUR 271 million from the Fortis Capital Company Ltd. unit and an extra EUR 16 million in settlement payments from the Madoff fraud trial.
The company saw its net profit from ordinary operations slump to EUR 51 million in the first six months of 2009, from EUR 562 million a year ago.
