Article: Spanish Befesa H1 '09 profit slumps 48% Y/Y on base effects.

(ADPnews) - Aug 26, 2009 - Spanish environmental services provider Befesa Medio Ambiente (MCE:BMA) posted a EUR-17-million (USD 24.3m) net profit for the first half of 2009, down by 48% on the year due to lack of extraordinary gains, the company said on Wednesday.

Befesa added that adjusting for one-off gains, its first-half net profit was 5.6% up on the year. In the same period of 2008 the company registered sales of land plots for EUR 45 million.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) slumped by 50% to EUR 47.8 million. ...
