(ADPnews) - Sep 8, 2009 - The Uruguayan Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining has launched a new wind power atlas as part of its efforts to reduce its dependence on imported oil, derivatives and thermoelectric energy.

The country spends an annual USD 2 billion (EUR 1.395bn) on imports of oil from its hydrocarbon-rich neighbours and of electricity from thermal plants in Brazil.
