(ADPnews) - Sep 14, 2009 - The workers at the construction sites of Jirau and Santo Antonio hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in northern Rondonia state closed their three-day strike and the construction activities at Santo Antonio were resumed on September 11.
In turn, Energia Sustentavel do Brasil, owner of Jirau's concession, said construction works at Jirau would be resumed as well.
At least 8,000 workers joined the strike demanding a 50% wage increase and better working conditions. The workers demanded better transport, food, security and health assistance. According to the workers, they were not paid for overtime work as well.
