Egypt has sugar for 9-10 months, subsidy bill rises Egypt has enough sugar stocks for nine to 10 months, while rising world prices will push up the sugar subsidy bill in 2009/10 to LE 4 billion ($730 million), the trade minister said on Wednesday. Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid, who was speaking to reporters, said the subsidy bill would rise from LE 2.3 billion but did not clarify whether this figure was for the last financial year or an earlier projection for the current year. -- Reuters
