The Vallarpadam International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), Kerala s most prestigious infrastructure project, would be started operations in December if only the State Government had helped the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) lay the 18.8-km road connectivity in time.
Federal Shipping Minister G K Vasan had informed the Lok Sabha in August that the project work was going on apace and the commissioning was on schedule.
Port Trust chairman N Ramachandran, however, put up a brave front, saying there was nothing sanctimonious about November 30, the date DP World, the builder and operator of the terminal, had in mind.
