Bombardier Inc. will soon have more of its turboprop airliners flying around Asia. Air Niugini, the national airline of Papua New Guinea, has placed a firm order for two 78-seater Q400 turboprops worth $60 million U.S. at list price and has optioned another.
The airline already flies eight earlier-model Bombardier turboprops serving domestic and international routes in Asia, Oceania and Australia. The Q400 aircraft now ordered are the latest next-generation models, chosen for their ability to handle climate extremes, use short runways and operate at high speeds, with a lean fuel burn and low emissions.
