REGULATORS have extended until 2012 the provisional authority of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) to operate the Philippine terminal station of the 20,000 km-long Asia America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable network for three years, noting its vital role in driving many economic sectors.
The target date of full operation of the AAG project is on the last week of September 2009, PLDT had told the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) prior to the release of the company s extended provisional authority (PA).
