Plans for a Sharpsville waterline extension may have to be scaled back as bids opened Thursday came in over budget, Borough Manager Mike Wilson said.
The borough received nine bids for the project and has about $4.6 million to spend from a $460,000 Pennsylvania H2O grant and a $4.2 million PENNVEST loan at 1 percent interest.
The apparent low bidder was Clemson Excavating Inc., Chardon, Ohio, at $3.99 million, Wilson said.
With alternate construction options also in the bid, the total would go up by $950,000 for one and about $400,000 for the second. Wilson said council will likely not go through with the second option and scale back the first ...
