Stanford Hospital & Clinics has invested $3 million in "lifting" technology to help place patients safely in hospital beds, and keep RNs and other staffers from suffering injuries.
The new Hill-Rom equipment, installed over the summer, includes eight overhead lifts, 24 mobile lifts, a special lift for extremely heavy patients and 26 air-powered transfer systems for moving patients from a bed to an X-ray table or other clinical site.
Consulting and training for staffers from consultant Dynamic Medical Inc. also came out of the $3 million, hospital officials said.
