WARREN - The infusion of $1.5 million in defense funds will help numb the impact of what has been a gloomy economic picture at Warren Pumps LLC on Bridges Avenue.
U.S. Rep. Richard E. Neal, D-Springfield, visited the plant for about an hour Tuesday to announce the company will receive the money from the federal defense budget.
"That's going to ensure that we keep the engineering staff that we have here on board," said Roland R. Doktor, manager of new programs, Navy sales, at Warren Pumps. "It's going to stabilize the work force."
The $1.5 million, he said, will be used to develop an advanced fuel filtration system ...
