They sit on doorsteps, often neglected, or dangling from unused pay phones. Yellow pages were probably an afterthought to Google, whose disruptive technology not only provides the phone number and address of the local pizza shop, but also includes updated reviews and in some cases real-time street shots that could let users know if there's a line outside the door.
The proliferation of smartphones, iPhones and other devices, capable of accessing the same amount of data held in a directory with a few rubs of a touch screen only seems to push the yellow pages business - at least in its yellowed, hard-copy form - one step closer to ...
