ROANOKE - Dr. John "Jack" Cole Jr., 77, died Oct. 2, 2009. He was born in Norfolk Aug. 31, 1932. Jack graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk. He received his B.A. from Virginia Military Institute in 1954 where he was an avid pole-vaulter and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia in 1958. His internship was completed at Norfolk General Hospital in 1959 followed by a residency at the University of Virginia in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery completed in 1962. He was married to the love of his life, Jobil Lassiter Cole, on June 16, 1956. After serving in the United States Army in Heidelberg, West Germany as chief of otolaryngology, Jack began a ...
