Fuzz is a beautiful thing, and true fuzz aficionados find beauty in ugliness. Forget those lovely, rounded "violin" tones. We're talking about nasty square-wave psychosis--the kind of tone that sounds like a pit bull on a meat truck. So, for that little sonic delinquent strutting around inside you, we offer a sampling of five fuzz pedals.
To test these fuzz bombs, we plugged in various Fender Strats, a Fender '62 reissue Tele, and a PRS McCarty. Amplifiers included a Matchless Chieftain, a Fender Deluxe Revert), and a mid-'70s 50-watt Marshall.
