Advanstar Communications Inc. planned to cut about 40 jobs effective last Friday, Oct. 2, at its North Olmsted office as the business trade magazine and trade show operator implements a new strategic plan.
The cuts include nearly 20 editors, according to two people familiar with the situation. An undetermined number of the additional cuts are from the company shutting its graphic arts department here and moving those tasks to its Duluth, Minn., office, both sources said. Variations on the "editor title are common at trade publications, and may apply to editorial staff from writers to managers of publications.
