For years, a frantic work schedule prevented real estate broker Robert Billingsley from having his arthritic left hip replaced, especially considering the lengthy recuperation the operation required.
When the market was red-hot in 2007, he was far too busy closing deals. Helping arrange a merger for his firm consumed much of the next year.
But this past July, unable to walk without a cane, Mr. Billingsley finally had his operation.
