WILMINGTON - Retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Alfred "Wes" Magee Jr., 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center. Wes was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Weehawken, N.J., son of the late Alfred Wesley Magee and Lucy Worth Magee. His wife, Charlotte Norris Magee and son-in-law, Jerry Ramsey, preceded him in death.
He attended the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School) and Rutgers University before serving in the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot in both World War II in the Pacific Theatre and the Korean War. Wes was a highly decorated aviator, including the Air Medal, Navy Unit Commendations, and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He also ...
