WASHINGTON _ Attorney General Janet Reno, already under pressure from Republicans to seek an independent counsel to investigate Democratic fund raising, is being pressed within her own Justice Department to turn the federal probe over to an outsider.
Reno said Thursday she is reviewing a new report from a top Justice Department investigator who officials say has concluded there is enough evidence to warrant an independent investigation of high-level officials involved in fund raising for President Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign.
