DEVENS - Energy technology company American Superconductor Corp. would not comment yesterday on market blogs reporting that the company could be a takeover target by giant European competitor ABB Ltd.
ABB of Zurich, Switzerland, provides power and automation technologies to utility and industry customers worldwide. The company has 120,000 employees and posted profits of $2.5 billion last year.
Jason Fredette, American Superconductor's director of investor & media relations, acknowledged that a possible acquisition of the company has been rumored, but declined to confirm or deny it.
