A WIDOW has won a pounds 18,000 payout after medics allegedly wrongly told a dad-of-two he had cancer and let him die.

Jack Jones, of Childwall, died in January 2006 in Woolton's Marie Curie hospice.

Months earlier, he had beaten cancer - but after spending time at the hospice in remission, the 76-year-old's shocked family were informed it had returned.

But they never believed the doctors' diagnosis, and a post mortem report later revealed the former bricklayer had instead died from pneumonia.
