Cap Gemini is predicting major short-term and long-term changes to the UK electricity industry in its submission to the government's Review of Electricity Trading Arrangements being currently conducted jointly by the Department of Trade and Industry and OFFER, the electricity watchdog. Cap Gemini is forecasting that by 2003, as a result of the current government review, mandatory trading on the Electricity Pool will be replaced by a free market system in which generators and supply companies enter into optional, bilateral trading arrangements.
