Brazil's Salto Pilao hydro plant will be able to start testing operations on October 17, Brazilian utility sector regulator Aneel said in a statement.

Salto Pilao is located on the Itajai-Acu river in the southern state of Santa Catarina.

Once operational, the plant will add 182MW of capacity to the national grid.
