Constellation Energy today announced that its R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, N.Y., has completed a scheduled refueling outage. During the refueling outage, Ginna became the third nuclear power plant in the United States to enter its licensed period of extended operations.
The refueling outage was completed in 20 days and 29 minutes -- the shortest duration on record for Ginna. The previous best was achieved in the spring of 2008 when Ginna performed its refueling outage in 20 days and 22 hours.
