Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) has confirmed signing its first contract with a data service provider in Haiti, and expects at least four more wholesale agreements to come by the year's end, the Nassau Guardian reports.
BTC invested USD6 million in a project to extend a submarine fibre-optic cable to Haiti in 2006, the only direct link of its kind with a landing station in the impoverished country.
