Hewlett-Packard Co. will work with the Systems Biology Ireland project to improve handling of the huge amounts of data created in biomedical research.
SBI, a research consortium of various businesses and researchers at Irish universities, will use HP s ExDS9100 server system for its research. SBI plans to buy the ExDS9100 and another HP system as part of the deal, said spokeswoman Claudia McGurk.
Palo Alto-based HP (NYSE: HPQ), which has a strong presence in Ireland, made a monetary donation to the project, said McGurk, though she did not say how much money.
