After being stuck for long, the Surat Diamond Association's (SDA) plan to build a hospital for diamond workers is finally on track, with Surat Municipal Corporation allotting land for the project.
Official sources said that the civic body has allotted 2,000 sq yard land at Chikuwadi, Nana Varachha, to Surat Diamond Association for the hospital project. The Association will build the hospital and also manage its operations. While SMC has provided the land, the hospital will be funded by The Gem & Jewellery National Relief Fund (GJNRF), Mumbai, which has agreed to provide a grant of Rs2.50 crore to Surat Diamond Association for the project.
