Alberici Constructors Inc. has won a $44 million subcontract to build part of a $4.9 billion plant that will convert weapons-grade plutonium into fuel for nuclear power plants.
Alberici won the subcontract from Shaw Areva Mox Services LLC, which was hired by the U.S. Department of Energy s Nuclear Security Administration to design and construct the plant on a government site in Aiken, S.C. Shaw Areva Mox Services is a joint venture between Baton Rouge, La.-based Shaw Group Inc. s Environmental & Infrastructure Group and Areva of France.
