The City of Aiken is looking to begin accepting bids from contractors on Oct. 19 for its Green Infrastructure Project. For the project, City officials will use a $3.3 million federal stimulus grant awarded by the Department of Health and Environmental Control to implement a plan that officials hope will reduce storm-water runoff in Hitchcock Woods.
The process involves installing rain gardens, bioswales, underground cisterns and pervious pavement in downtown streets and parkways. The project will take place along parkways on Park Avenue, from Laurens to Union streets.
