Article: Celgene Corporation Reports Benefit From Thalomid(TM)(thalidomide) in an Ongoing, Multi-Center AIDS Wasting Study

WARREN, N.J., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Celgene Corporation (Nasdaq: CELG) reported today that administration of THALOMID(TM)(thalidomide) in patients with AIDS-associated weight loss (cachexia) for up to six months affords statistically significant increases in body weight. Significant weight gain was seen at every four week interval in the study. The mean weight gain for patients treated for 28 weeks (n=30) was ten percent (13.6 pounds) and approximately half of these patients (14) were observed to return to their pre-morbid weight. The data was presented at the 12th Annual World AIDS Conference in Geneva.
