Monday I arrive at the airport promptly for the 9.15am Jersey to Gatwick departure only to find that my flight has been delayed following a strike at Manchester Airport. A pre-conditioned cynicism for "estimated" departure times has taught me to leave a generous stretch between connecting flights, and I arrive in time to board my flight to Oslo. It amuses me to think that the most reliable aspect of the service is its unreliability. Rant over. A bank holiday spent in the departure lounge allows me to prep up on the companies I will encounter.
