Well, that certainly got the world's attention.
On Friday, President Barack Obama was awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Why? For restoring the U.S. role as an active and respected partner in world affairs, according to the Nobel committee.
That rationale rings as a repudiation of Obama's predecessor. George W. Bush chose unilateralism after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, launching wars of choice against Afghanistan, whose Taliban rulers sheltered Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida; and Iraq, whose dictator Saddam Hussein did not collude with al-Qaida.
