It's been a long stretch of negative returns for the cattle, hog and dairy industries. After weathering high feed costs brought by the 2007-08 grain markets, lower 2008-09 feed costs were more than offset by lower cash cattle, hog and milk prices. And production is turning down ... just not very fast--and not fast enough to offset the price-negative impact of lower demand.
Dairy industry on divided recovery path--
